Abstract

Vehicle testing is conducted to evaluate safety, durability, environmental compliance, and performance. Various tests, such as crash, performance, durability, environmental impact, and chemical safety, are conducted to ensure that vehicles meet regulatory and quality standards. In crash testing, anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs), commonly referred to as dummies, are used to simulate the effects of collisions on the human body and to assess injury risks. These dummies differ in terms of gender representation and design; for example, the Hybrid III model represents an average male, EvaRID represents a female, and WorldSID is used for side-impact evaluations. Anatomical and biomechanical differences between male and female bodies significantly influence the design and performance of vehicle safety systems. Incorporating gender-based considerations in testing and design enables the development of safety measures that provide equitable protection for all occupants.
